Frequently asked questions

Where is the real DriveClub Recomp download?

On the project’s GitHub Releases page, github.com/OverkillLabs3/driveclub-recomp/releases, published by OverkillLabs3. The current Windows file is driveclub-recomp-0.4.2-win64.zip, 169,330,514 bytes. Every button on this page opens that exact file on GitHub; this site stores no copy.

Which file do I need?

On Windows, only driveclub-recomp-0.4.2-win64.zip. On Linux, driveclub-recomp-0.4.2-x86_64.AppImage (experimental). SHA256SUMS.txt is the list of checksums. Releases up to 0.2.5 also had a -source.tar.gz; that is the source code, not something to play.

How do I verify the SHA-256?

Drop the file into the checker on this page, or run certutil -hashfile driveclub-recomp-0.4.2-win64.zip SHA256 in Command Prompt (or Get-FileHash in PowerShell). On Linux, put SHA256SUMS.txt beside the download and run sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS.txt --ignore-missing. The result must equal the SHA-256 in the table.

Why does Windows warn about DriveClub.exe?

The launcher is new and not code-signed, so SmartScreen shows “Windows protected your PC”. The README says to choose More info, then Run anyway, after verifying with the checksum. If the SHA-256 matches, the file is the one the developer published.

Do I have to download every new release by hand?

No. Since 0.3.1 the launcher checks for new versions and installs them from the Releases page with an Update button, verifying the ZIP against SHA256SUMS.txt; settings, saves, mods and logs stay. You can turn the check off with “Check for new versions”.

Is there a DriveClub Recomp PKG, APK or “full game” download?

No. The project publishes a Windows ZIP, a Linux AppImage and checksums, nothing else. Anything that claims to include the game, a PKG, keys or firmware did not come from this repository.
